Overview

Aelnir ("we", "us") provides the Aelnir: QR & Barcode Scanner mobile application (the "App"). This policy explains what the App accesses, uses, stores, and shares.

01

Summary

The App needs no account. Scanning, results, history, and code creation run on your device, and we never receive your scanned codes or history. The free App shows ads through Google AdMob, whose SDK collects limited device and usage data to provide, measure, and protect advertising.

02

Information processed on your device

Depending on what you use, the App processes:

  • Camera images, to detect QR codes and barcodes
  • Photos, screenshots, or images you choose or share with the App
  • Decoded code contents (for example web addresses, text, Wi-Fi details, contact details, events, phone numbers, email addresses, locations, product numbers, shipment numbers, or payment-request details)
  • Content you type to create a code
  • Scan titles, notes, categories, favourites, and history settings

This stays on your device. Camera frames and imported images are not kept after scanning. Scan history is encrypted and stored only on your device. You can turn history off, use Incognito mode, choose automatic deletion, delete single items, or clear everything in Settings. Uninstalling the App removes its local data.

03

Device permissions

Requested only when you use the related feature:

  • Camera: scan codes.
  • Photos/media: choose an image to scan, or save a code you created.
  • Contacts: check for an exact phone or email match before opening your device's contact editor. Contacts are never uploaded.
  • Nearby Wi-Fi devices (and location on older Android versions): connect to a Wi-Fi network from a QR code. Android requires this permission for Wi-Fi operations; the App does not track or store your location.
  • Internet: load ads, obtain advertising consent, and open things you explicitly choose to open.

You can deny any optional permission; other features keep working.

04

Advertising

The App uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google's User Messaging Platform. Where the law requires it, you are asked for consent before personalized ads are shown, and you can change your choice later under Settings → advertising privacy choices. If you decline, Google may still show limited or non-personalized ads.

Google states that the Mobile Ads SDK automatically collects and shares:

  • IP address (which may be used to estimate general location)
  • Product interactions, such as app launches, taps, and ad views
  • Diagnostic information about App and SDK performance
  • Device identifiers, including the advertising ID where available

Google uses this for advertising (including personalized advertising where you consent), analytics, and fraud prevention, security, and compliance. Data is encrypted in transit. Google processes it under its own policies:

We do not sell personal information and run no analytics, account, or cloud service of our own.

05

Actions you choose

The App never opens a scanned link automatically. When you choose an action (open a website, connect to Wi-Fi, add a contact or event, call, message, open a map, or share), the relevant information goes to your device or the app you pick, and that service's privacy policy applies.

06

Retention and deletion

We keep no scan data on any server. Local history stays until you delete it, automatic deletion removes it, or you uninstall the App. Google keeps advertising data according to its policies and controls.

07

Children

The App is a general utility and is not designed for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

08

Security

History is encrypted on your device and network traffic is encrypted in transit. No method is perfectly secure.

09

Changes

We may update this policy when the App, the law, or our providers change. The updated policy will be posted at the same address with a new effective date.
